Likes And Dislikes
What do I like? In no particular order
- Surfing the net. I used to read encyclopaedias in my summer holidays in school. But the web is just
too vast to ever read it all up.
-
Reading science fiction by Neal Stephenson, Terry Pratchett, Asimov and A.C.Clarke.
Reading fiction by a whole bunch of people I will not name except P.G.Wodehouse.
Reading technical details about new advances in technology on the net
-
Travelling. I have seen a lot of the US ( as I was there 5 years ). Before you ask, I think NYC is
the best place on earth. I am going to travel a lot through India as soon as I am established in some
money making venture.
-
Movies of course. I see all kinds and even different languages (with subtitles). Of course with the advent of the net,
I can now see movies which I would never have heard about or gotten to see them if I had.
What do I dislike? Too numerous to mention but I will make an effort...
-
Poor traffic sense of the people in Mumbai. All selfish and all in a bloody hurry. Especially the
rickshaws.
-
Poor civic sense of the people in India. Everything except their home is a place to spit and
throw garbage.
-
The cost of everything foreign. I am simply unable to understand why products made in Taiwan which is a
lot closer to us are more expensive here in India than in the US. Why does the Indian government
have to have so many duties and such a high excise? I feel it's the wrong way to tax the rich and
subsidize the poor.
-
People trying to be different than the rest. Be who you are.
-
People blindly aping the west. In the same vein, people blindly following certain religious leaders
or customs.
-
Not getting pure/unadultrated stuff even if you are ready to pay premium.
-
Absolutely disgusting the way corruption is accepted as part of our life.
-
The way people live for today and now rather than thinking long term for the
generations and the country.
